If you live in Bend, you already know the weather doesn’t play nice with your home’s exterior. One week it’s 95 degrees in the sun, the next it drops below freezing overnight. Engineered wood siding holds up, looks great, and doesn’t require the constant upkeep that real wood demands.

We’ve replaced siding on older homes in the Old Bend neighborhood, new builds near NorthWest Crossing, and everything in between. We know what works here, and we know what doesn’t.

“We wanted something that looked like real wood but wouldn’t rot or warp every time the weather changed. Cascade Crest helped us pick the right product and the install was clean. We’ve had zero issues.”

Why engineered wood

Built for the Central Oregon climate

Engineered wood is made from wood fibers and resins pressed into a composite panel.

You get the look of natural wood without the same vulnerabilities — better moisture resistance, less cracking through temperature swings, and longer-lasting paint adhesion because it’s factory primed and pre-treated.

For homes near Pilot Butte or out toward Tumalo where the sun hits hard, that matters. We work with LP SmartSide and similar products specifically rated for Pacific Northwest climates and backed by manufacturer warranties.

Common questions

What homeowners ask us

Straight answers, no pressure.

How long does engineered wood siding last in Central Oregon?

With proper installation and a good paint job, expect 25–30 years or more. The key is proper install — incorrect fastener spacing or a missing water-resistant barrier will cause failure regardless of brand.

Engineered wood is a step up from raw wood in fire resistance, but if you’re in a very high-risk fire zone near Sunriver or the Deschutes National Forest, we may recommend fiber cement instead. We’ll give you an honest answer based on where your home sits.

Most jobs run between $8,000 and $20,000 depending on home size, product selected, and what we find behind the old siding. We provide detailed written estimates before any work starts.

Yes. The challenge on older homes is matching the existing profile and color. We’ll be upfront if a full replacement makes more sense from a value standpoint.
